Equipment

  • 1 Glue Gun
  • 1 Pair of scissors
  • 1 pair of pruning shears

Materials

  • 10 whole Star anise seeds choose whole star anise seeds
  • 1 Found Twig cut to 6" to 8" Cut the twig to desired size
  • 3 inches Floral wire Choose any desired color
  • 1 piece Of velvet or satin ribbon cut to 5"-6" any color, we used red

Instructions

  • Step 1: Prepare the Twig. Trim your twigs to your desired length—6 to 8 inches works perfectly. These will form the trunk of your tree.
  • Step 2: Attach the Top Star. Glue a single star anise seed at the top of the twig to form the tip of your Christmas tree.
  • Step 3: Create the Second Row. Glue two star anise seeds together side by side, then attach them just below the top seed on the twig. This forms the second row of your tree.
  • Step 4: Make the Third Row. Glue three star anise seeds together in a row, then attach this row beneath the previous pair
  • Step 5: Add the Fourth Row. Glue four star anise seeds together in a row, let them dry, and then attach them below the three-seed row. Continue layering until your tree reaches the desired size.
  • Step 6: Add a Wire Hanger. Cut a piece of malleable craft or floral wire, shape it into a loop, and glue it to the back of the ornament so it can hang from your tree or a gift.
  • Step 7: Finish with a Ribbon Bow. Tie a small bow from your ribbon and glue it to the top of the ornament for a festive finishing touch.
  • Step 8: Let Everything Dry. Allow the glue to fully set before handling or hanging your ornaments.

Notes

  • Choose sturdy twigs: Select twigs at least 1/2 inch thick. Test them before crafting so that they won't break too easily.
  • Work in small sections: For the best experience, glue the rows of anise seeds all at once before gluing them onto the twig.
  • Layer thoughtfully: Arrange the star anise seeds so the points alternate slightly between rows. This adds a more natural, tree-like appearance.
  • Keep kids supervised: If crafting with children, consider using a low-heat glue gun or assist them with the hot glue steps.
