HI, I’M JULIA!
I like to make slow living simple, beautiful, and doable — with projects and rituals that nourish your home, your hands, and your well-being.
I’ve always loved turning natural materials into simple, seasonal, homemade projects—but I don’t believe they should take hours or require complicated tools.
Here you’ll find easy, creative recipes, remedies, crafts, and printables—tested and made simple so you can enjoy them easily at home with friends and family.

LET’S START FROM THE BEGINNING…
I’m from a small town in Northern California, where I grew up surrounded by the foothills, open skies, and plenty of time outdoors. My love for nature started early and has shaped much of who I am today.
During my adolescent years, I was deeply involved in theater, especially the magic of stagecraft, while also embracing my “nerdy” side—I’ve always been fascinated by science, particularly botany and ornithology. I could spend hours studying plants or watching birds, just as easily as I could lose myself in the world of the stage.
A BUDDING INTEREST IN PHOTOGRAPHY
In college, I adored all of my lighting and set design classes—they felt like the perfect blend of art and science. Around that time, my now-husband enrolled in a Photoshop class, and I was instantly captivated by everything he was learning. I made him teach me every trick he knew. Before long, I’d “borrowed” his camera (and never given it back!), and now I take all the photos you see here.
THE PANDEMIC SHIFT
In early 2020, as the world slowed down and everyday goods became harder to find, I turned to my kitchen and garden for comfort and creativity. I experimented with my first herbal-infused oil, followed soon after by a batch of soothing bath salts. Before long, I was hooked—each project became a way to connect more deeply with the plants around me, while also crafting something useful and beautiful for my home and family. What started as a small experiment quickly grew into A Farm to Keep, a place to share this seasonal, creative journey with others.
AND THEN CAME A FARM TO KEEP
As I explored more ways to bring herbs and seasonal creativity into my home, I realized how inspiring and supportive the maker community could be. I wanted to share my own simple, hands-on projects—DIY remedies, bath salts, herbal oils, crafts, and family-friendly activities—that anyone could create at home.
I started working on this blog, which I launched in 2021, and shortly after, I “borrowed” my husband Nik’s camera and took over the photography myself. Now, every project you see here is captured through my lens, blending creativity, herbs, and the changing seasons into a life you can slow down and savor.
